My Father in Law, Stan Nelson of Oneonta, NY served in the occupation forces in Germany in 1945-1946.
When he had been dead a year, we found his pictures and some of his records.
At that time I found out that he had served in Military Intelligence-as a clerk.
I was dismayed to think that for over 25 years I had been denied the opportunity to tease my Father in Law about "Military Intelligence."
He had a sharp wit and a great sense of humor. I miss him.
In the spring of 2003 I bought a WWII Scrapbook of Oneonta, NY newspaper clippings about men and women in the service.
I posted a message about it in the Oneonta Yahoo Groups email list.
Bob Pickard, a classmate of Stan Nelson contacted me about it and I pointed him to the "Stan" section of the site.
The first picture he saw was of Stan and himself in the Summer of 1945 at Camp Croft, S. Carolina
They were classmates in High School and their pictures are also next to each other in the yearbook.
Stan, these pages are for you as a small way of saying thank you-for everything.
Russ
(I'm still mad that you didn't tell me about the Military Intelligence thing-I could have really had a great time with that!)
