Is there anything more beautiful then the red ,white and blue, our flag, Old Glory waving in the breeze.

At Sampson we would muster in front of our barracks, at attention and salute the flag as it was raised, what a thrill.

Yet, at the end of the day when the flag was retired, many boots as well as ships company would run indoors to avoid standing at attention and saluting the flag as it was lowered .

I and a few others would put on our hats and go outside to be a part of this ceremony. I thought it was a beautiful ceremony ,and still do.
