I retired from the Navy in 2005 as a Chief Petty Officer. I was an Amphib Sailor and served aboard the USS BATAAN (LHD-5).

I now work for the Maritime Administration and on July 23rd was aboard the RRF Crane Ship Gopher State pierside in Newport News, VA and looked across the main deck of the RRF Crane Ship Cornhusker State who was tied up alongside, to watch the USS GAGE (APA-168) being towed down the James River toward the Atlantic ocean.

I was able to snap these two photos of her with my cell phone. Back in April of this year I was on board the GAGE, actually had to walk across her main deck to get to the S.S. RESOLUTE who was tied up abreast. Thank You and God Bless America!
